It will show the description of the field behind the keyfield. Select correct table name (campus-master). Go down to the grid lookup and check use lookup. Open fields in your left menu and select campus key. it shows up as description.Īfaik: Create a form using campus description. It did show up correct, but beside an empty box. I did try the grid lookup section by inserting this sql: select a.campus from campus_master a, user_profile_campus73 i was asking how to do that for a new field? So in theory, im gonna have to link by query using the campus_key between the tables to get the name. Now i’m going to need to show campus_name on the forms because showing campus_key would be pointless to user. there is another table which holds the campus names by their key at the campus_master table. but from what you can see, there is no name for campus in that table. Now,im creating a form using the campus description to show user which access flag they are allowed from each campus. I have two tables which is campus_master and campus_description…Ĭampus_description USER_KEY | USER | CAMPUS_KEY | ACCESS_FLAG | Let me give you a simple example of my situation.(im using oracle database): i did try the grid lookup section but it doesnt show as value but rather as description and an empty box beside it. Perhaps my situation isn’t clear yet or i’m still struggling with the tools. Click the checkbox ‘Use lookup to display the field description.’ and generate the lookup SQL Command. Is that what you mean? Don’t change the field type (text, number), but go down to grid lookupsection. So you don’t need a link here to replace the capus id by the campus description. You can have an autolookup on any field replacing the keyvalue by the description. The logs aren’t telling me much so I’m thinking about cleaning house and re-installing SC.I don’t quite understand what you want to achieve. I have been experiencing SC lockups on other occasions as well, particularly when generating zip deployment files. I haven’t explored that problem since it’s easier for me to just restart apache2 on my Proliant Micro-serverĪt this point I get compiler errors as described, which are listed twice. *** Note that once or twice I find SC “locks” up at this point. Compile should generate an error about “field not found”. change the database schema, so the detail part of the SELECT list becomes invalid.create a SELECT field on a form, drawing the list from a database table.SC is currently busy fixing a lot of issues, but they need clear samples of things that go wrong. Imho it’s a bug, but would be nice if you could make a reproducable issue of this. Sometimes when you change the type of a field the original data persists but is hidden due to disappearing blocks or fields. The only work-around (kludge) I have found is to delete the whole form and start again. Note also that the error is listed twice. (Unknown column ‘tbl_customers.customername’ in ‘field list’)įield:idtbl_customers is NOT a SELECT field, yet fatal errors involving the original SELECT SQL persist. In desperation & exasperation I reverted the field in General Setting > Data Type to INTEGER to see if at least the without the SELECT LOOKUP I’d get a clean compile.įield:idtbl_customers SELECT CONCAT( tbl_customers.customername,’ ‘, tbl_pany,’ ‘, tbl_postcodes.town,’ ', tbl_postcodes.postcode) AS detail FROM tbl_customers LEFT OUTER JOIN tbl_postcodes ON tbl_customers.idtbl_postcodes = tbl_postcodes.idtbl_postcodes ORDER BY tbl_customers.customername I corrected the erroneous code, but the error persisted. I changed the database schema for the SELECT LOOKUP SQL statement. I have a field idtbl_customer of type integer.
